Our recent stay at Hostal El Padrino was exceptional. The newly remodeled and built rooms were clean, fresh, and equipped with air conditioning and a TV. The downtown location made it easy for us to walk to the beach or rent a bike from the hotel. The host was friendly and welcoming, creating a warm and authentic Mexican neighborhood experience. We enjoyed exploring the local restaurants and trying delicious seafood dishes. we highly recommend this hotel for its affordable price, convenient location, and comfortable accommodations.

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, especially Sofia. The location was perfect for me as it was away from the touristy areas and gave me a chance to experience the local culture. The room I stayed in had an AC, a small kitchenette with utensils and a coffee maker, which were all very convenient. I also loved that they provided bikes for a reasonable price, making it easy to explore the nearby beaches and restaurants.
There was some construction happening outside the bedroom, which caused noise in the mornings. However, the hotel did inform me about this beforehand and it wasn't too bad during the night.

I had a wonderful stay at a charming hostel in Akumal. The room was clean and comfortable, with a well-equipped kitchenette. The owner and his family were incredibly helpful and friendly. I even got a discount for my knowledge of the Godfather movies, a fun bonus! The location in the lively pueblo of Akumal was so much better than the gated communities nearby. I highly recommend this hostel for a great experience in Akumal.

I had a fantastic stay at this guesthouse! the local vibe was amazing, with children playing, dogs barking, and neighbors partying. the private room was clean and had complimentary shampoo and a towel. the staff, especially Sofia, were incredibly helpful. the location was away from the touristy area and surrounded by locals. I could explore the beaches, restaurants, and snorkeling spots easily with the bikes available for rent. the kitchen had everything I needed to cook, and there was a cheap local market nearby with fresh produce.
The signage outside could have been clearer.

The value for money at this place was excellent! The room felt more like an apartment than a hostel, complete with a kitchen, fridge, and even a coffee machine. The location was convenient, giving us a taste of local Mexico life and culture. The staff were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to provide us with useful information about the nearby beaches and activities.
The breakfast offerings could be improved slightly, perhaps by adding some more options or variety.

The room had everything we needed, including an en-suite toilet and shower. We also appreciated the availability of air conditioning and a fan, as it helped keep the room cool during our romantic escape. having filtered water available was a nice touch.
One of the things we disliked about our stay was the lack of clear signage for the hotel. It was difficult for us to find the place, as there was no visible sign and even the locals seemed unfamiliar with it.

The staff at this hostel were incredibly helpful, giving us tips and recommendations for exploring the area. the hostel is situated in a local neighborhood, which provided a more authentic experience away from the touristy areas. Our room was equipped with air conditioning and a small kitchenette, which allowed us to prepare our own meals. renting bikes from the hostel for a reasonable price allowed us to easily explore the nearby beaches, restaurants, and snorkeling spots.
One downside of staying in this hostel was the noise level. Being located in a local neighborhood meant that there were often dogs barking and people playing music, which could be disruptive at times.
Tourists from South Africa often stay at these properties. Ideas for your future trips.
